Description
This is an image of Southern Railway #542, a coal fired steam engine train. The train was manufactured by Baldwin Locomotive works in 1903. This locomotive is a class J, 2-8-0 locomotive. This was the engine for the train used in the movie "leather heads" and was numbered 604 for the filming. After the movie the locomotive was fully restored and numbered with its correct number of 542. It is currently housed at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.
