Singer Motors Limited was a british car company that has a rather modest beginning. The company was originally started by George Singer in 1874 as a bicycle company. In 1901 they began to produce commercial vehicles. They were very popular vehicles in the first half of the 20th century in Great Britain. The company was sold in 1956 to the Rootes Group. The Rootes Group continued production of the Singer until 1970 a few years after the Rootes group was purchased by the American company, the Chrysler Corporation.
