Description
This is an image of a southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum) or otherwise known as southern square-lipped rhinoceros. They are currently the most prevalent rhino in Africa. Because of their population numbers they are one of the most prevalent species of rhinos in zoos today. They are threatened because their horn is prized as a medicine by some cultures. Surprisingly enough the horn is not made out of bone but rather the same protein that make up human hair and fingernails. Rhinos eat grasses and leaves and no not eat meat.
